Billa, the cat, Learns a Lesson- part 3

Read part 2
Pillu and Pilli became nervous to see their father screaming and crying. They were searching in vain for the button to stop the machine. Billa's shrieks were turning louder with every passing moment.
Pillu and Pilli could not bear their father's agony for long. Feeling helpless, they too started crying.
Luckily, Rashmi and her parents returned home. Mummy saw the kittens crying near the machine and was alarmed. She, immediately rushed to the machine and saw Billa, the cat, moving inside it. She switched off the machine and took Billa out of it. The cat was half-dead due to exhaustion, Rashmi's mother laid it in the sun. Pillu and Pilli followed her and started circling around their father.
Rashmi's mother did not like the cat and her kittens but today she could not help pitying them. She brought a bowl full of hot milk and placed it before Billa. Billa drank it and felt better. He looked at Rashmi's mother with eyes full of gratitude. Then she walked away with her kids.
Billa had learnt a lesson from this incident. He would not touch the things, he is not familiar
with, he decided. He altogether stopped indulging in pranks. Rashmi's mother too became friendly towards them after the incident. She would even offer them milk now and then. The 2 families had indeed become friends after the incident.

Pillu and Pilli came near the washing machine and peeped inside it. They grew scared. "Daddy, I will not go in it. I am feeling scared," Pillu said.
"Daddy even I am scared of it," Pilli said in a trembling voice.
"But what makes you so scared?" Billa asked.
"Who knows if there is a wooden hammer fitted in it like that of a washerman which is used to beat the clothes," Pillu said.
"Yes, Daddy, if that wooden hammer strikes us 2-4 times, we would be finished," Pilli said.
"Oh, nothing of the sort will happen. The clothes just move in a circle and get cleaned. In fact, you would enjoy this movement which is like swaying here to there in a swing," Billa said smiling.
Thus Billa tried to persuade Pillu and Pilli to get cleaned in the machine, but Pillu and Pilli remained reluctant. At last, Billa said, "All right. Let me get cleaned myself first. That will remove your fear. Okay?"
"All right," Pillu and Pilli said.
Billa went inside the machine and spoke, "Now press the button."
Pillu pressed the button. A peculiar noise was produced and the machine started. The motor moved in circles, with which Billa also started moving. In the beginning, the machine moved slowly and Billa enjoyed himself. But as soon as it picked up speed, Billa became nervous. He lost his balance and fell down. Before he could collect himself, the machine started moving in the reverse direction. Now Billa appeared miserable. The machine would now rotate
him in one direction and then in the reverse direction, turn by turn. The washing machine which he considered like the ride at disneyland was all set to stir him to death, he feared.
"Oh my God, please stop the machine, or I will die," Billa cried.
"Daddy, but how to stop it?" Pillu asked desperately.
"Press the other button to stop it. It must be somewhere near the first button,"
saying, Billa burst into tears.

Billa, the cat, Learns a Lesson- part 1

Billa, the cat, was very mischievous. He would run from here to there throughout the day. This caused anxiety for Rashmi's mother. She
would place the milk inside the cupboard and take every care to keep it beyond Billa's reach.
However Billa would sniff here and there and find out where it was lying and finish it in no time.
Billi was Billa's wife. Billi had given birth to 2 kittens recently. Billa named them as Pillu and Pilli. Now they were grown and the family of 4 had made Mummy miserable. Billa had even taught his kids to open the refrigerator. Now Pillu and Pilli would keep the door of the fridge open. They would also enter and eat the things kept inside it.
It took Rashmi's mother quite long before she knew how the things disappeared from inside the fridge. Then one day, she caught the 4 stealing red-handed. From that day onwards she kept her fridge locked.
One day, Rashmi's mother prepared a plum cake. The aroma of the plum cake spread all around the house. Having finished the preparation, Rashmi's mother went to call Rashmi and her father. In the meantime Billa, Billi, Pillu and Pilli reached there. They lifted up the cake and carried it to the roof. There, they sung "Happy birthday" and finished the cake.
Last week, Rashmi's father had purchased a washing machine. Rashmi's mummy would put dirty clothes in it and press the start button. The machine would clean the clothes in no time. It saved the family lots of efforts. Billa watched the washing machine cleaning the clothes with curiosity. One day, when Rashmi and her parents were out, Billa told his kids, "Pillu and Pilli come, let me wash you in the machine."
"Do you want to wash us in the machine? Suppose we get caught inside the motor, then what will you do?" Pillu was worried.
"Don't worry. Nothing will happen. This is a good machine. They wash rough jeans as well as soft woollens in it." Billa was confident.
Pilli, too had the information. "Yes, the other day when Rashmi got her new white sweater soiled, his mother washed it in the machine. After washing, it came out shining," she said.
"Yes. I want you to come out cleaner with your fur shining. Come, get inside the machine," Billa was in a hurry.

Langoor Becomes Trustworthy (Part 2)

Part 2 of 2
Go to Part 1
Soon, they started playing hide and seek in the ground which was surrounded by big trees. Everybody was in look out for a place where he would hide unseen and win the game.
First, it was the turn of Hathi, the Elephant, to seek those hiding. He had to count 1 to 20 with his eyes closed. Others were supposed to hide themselves in the meantime. Then Hathi would open his eyes and search them.
Hathi started counting. Rest of them went hiding themselves in the nearby trees and bushes. Having counted 20, Hathi started his search. Soon, he found all of them. But Langoor Monkey was nowhere to be found, for he had hidden himself between the leafy branches of a big neem tree. He was waiting there with bated breath. He could not even utter a word lest his friends would be annoyed. This was the condition they had put before permitting him to play with them.
The friends waited for Langoor for quite some tijavascript:void(0)me. After that they all went to their respective homes. Langoor was not aware of this. Now there was perfect silence all through the ground.
After waiting for long, Langoor became restless. It was time to go home, he thought and was about to climb down from the tree when he happened to see 3 animals, their faces covered with cloths, walking towards the tree. Langoor wondered, "What on earth are they atter, at this flour." to langoor's surprise they started digging the ground under the tree. One of them spoke, "Let us dump the stolen stuff inside this pit. We will dig it out in the morning and distribute ourselves."
The 3 thieves dug the pit and buried the stuff. Then they spread the earth evenly over the pit and went away. The thieves were not aware that Langoor, the Monkey, watched them bury the stolen things.
After they left, Langoor came down. He stood there for some time wondering what to do with the stolen things and how to get the thieves arrested. Then something occurred to him.
He went straight away to Commander Cheetah's house and narrated the incident to him. The Commander did not believe him in the beginning for he was aware of Langoor’s habit of rumours. But later when Langoor swore that he was speaking truth and insisted to take action accordingly, then he believed him.
Next day, the soldiers awaited the thieves hiding in the trees when they reached the spot and started digging the pit. The Commander gave the whistle and the soldiers came out instantly. The thieves were caught. The stolen stuff was also seized.
The Commander asked the soldiers to remove the covers from the faces of the thieves. Everybody was taken aback for the thieves were no one else but the residents of the very forest - Lomdi Jackal, Foxy the Fox and Wolfy the Wolf and Commander Cheetah congratulated Langoor Monkey and patted his back affectionately for it was his wisdom that had helped him catch the thieves.
Now nobody in the forest was annoyed with Langoor. His friends even welcomed him to play with
them. Langoor, at last, became a trustworthy individual.

End of Story

Langoor Becomes Trustworthy (Part 1)

Part 1 of 2
Langoor, the monkey, was a famous for spreading rumours. It did not take him long to make a hill out of a mole. The animals of the Jungle were fed up of him for this habit.
One day, his neighbour Bhalu Bear was cooking food when one of the article in the kitchen caught fire. Langoor immediately, ran here and there and told everybody that Bhalu got his house afire. The animals ran towards his house to find everything okay. Then they became annoyed and scolded Langoor for bothering them unnecessarily. But Langoor was very thick skinned. Nothing seemed to affect him.
Langoor's friends, too, avoided him for his habit of spreading rumours. Nobody wanted to play with him.
Thus he was forced to spend his time all alone.
His parents would often advise him to mend his ways. He listened to them and would behave accordingly for 1-2 days. But soon he would resume his boastfulness.
One day, after the school the children gathered in the nearby ground. They decided to play hideand-seek. Langoor saw the children assembling, so he also went there. "I will also play," he said. But nobody was willing to listen to him.
"Hey, listen to me, I want to play the game, too," he said.
"But we don’t want to play with you", said Ghadha, the Donkey.
"But why? What makes you people isolate me? Am I so bad?"
But his pleadings fell on deaf ears. Then Langoor requested with folded hands, "please, let me join you in the game." Now his friends felt pity on him.
"But there is a condition that you will keep your mouth shut," Ragdu Jackal said.
"All right. I will do as you p1ease" Langoor agreed.

The clever old man (Part 4)

Part 4 of 4
Go to part 3
Just then a shepherd happened to reach near the bundle. He opened the bundle and was surprised
see the old man inside the bundle. He asked him who had tied and packed him like that. The old man replied, "There are 4 young men who want me to marry their sister. Since I do not want to get married at this age, they have tied and packed me to carry to their place. There I will be forced to marry the girl."
The shepherd was unmarried and very keen to get married. He said, "Baba, let me get married to the girl."
The old man said, "All right, you just lie down on this sheet and let me pack you inside this. You will get married today itself."
Then the old man packed the man in the sheet and put the bundle aside. Thereafter, he collected his
goats and proceeded towards his house with the flock. It was dark in the evening, when the thugs
returned to pick the bundle. The shepherd heard them and spoke, "I am ready to get married."
The thugs did not pay attention to what he said and lifted him. Soon, he was dropped in the well.
The thugs were returning to the village when they came across the old man with the flock of goats. The thugs became awestruck to think that this was the ghost of the old man. They wanted to flee but the old man stopped them, "Wait a minute, you fools. I am not a ghost. Listen to me. You had dropped me tied in the sheet, that is why I could not manage to get anything but these goats. The well, you know, is full of gold bricks."
The thugs could not resist the greed. They jumped into the well to possess the gold lying in it and died instantly.
Thus the old man succeeded to manage for a secured old age. The villagers too got rid of the rogues for good.

The thugs immediately went to the field and tried to catch hold of the deer, but the deer ran away. The thugs realised now that the old man had made a fool of them. They paid compensation to the owner of the field for the damage and returned home. Now it was their turn to settle scores with the old man.
But the old man was thoroughly prepared to take on the thugs. He brought 2 pestles home and instructed his wife, "When I strike you with one pestle, pretend to die. Then I will strike you with the other and you will get up. At dinner time, serve the thugs good food and me plain food.
After giving these instructionS to his wife, the old man went to the field.
After some time, the thugs came to his home and asked his wife where he was. Soon, they reached the field. The old man received them warmly and brought them home with him. The old woman served them the dinner as the old man had told her.
Then the old man pretended to appear angry and hit her hard with a pestle. The old woman fell flat as dead. The thugs stood up leaving their food. Then the old man spoke, "This ill-natured woman gets killed by me almost every month. But never mind, I will bring her back to life." Thus the woman was struck by the old man second time and to everybody’s surprise got up as if nothing had happened to her.
Ihe thugs watched the drama and became coveted to buy those pestles. The old man sold those pestles rather reluctantly for another 4,000 silver coins
Back home, the thugs struck their wives hard with pestle which made them unconscious. Then they struck them again with the second pestle. But the women did not get up. They had died.
The thugs performed last rites of their wives and then decided to kill the old man. They went to the field where he was working and tied him in a sheet. The old man asked them what they were upto. Then they told him that they intended to throw him in a well.
The old man had not lost his wits yet. He told them, "The farmers around are irrigating their fields. If you throw me in the well at this hour, they are sure to take me out. Better, wait till night falls."
The thugs believed him once again. They put the big bundle near the bushes and went away.

They decided to buy the donkey and asked the old man its price. The old man said, "This donkey is the only means of sustenance for us. He passes out 10- 20 silver coins with the dung in the morning, which is the only earning we have. We cannot offered to feed him anything but grass. If only I could manage to feed him 2 kg grams everyday, he would pass out more of silver coins for sure."
Thugs' wives could not resist their greed. They purchased the donkey for four thousand silver coins.
Then the old man purchased 2 deer for 50 silver coins and brought them home. He tied a deer inside the room and instructed his wife to prepare kheer for the four guests he was to receive. He further told her, "I am carrying the other deer to the field in the nearby hill. You tie the other deer outside once I leave."
The thugs' wives were eager to get more of silver coins from the donkey. In their enthusiasm, each of them fed the donkey 2 kg gram seeds. The donkey could not resist eating them. But it was just not possible for him to digest 8 kg of grams. He tossed and turned in pain and finally died.
When the thugs returned, they were surprised to see the dead body of the donkey. Then their wives told them the whole story.
Next day, the thugs went to the old man's place and asked his wife where the old man was. The old woman showed them the path to the field in the hill where the old man had gone. After they left, she brought the other deer out of the room and tied it in the courtyard of her house. Thereafter, she got busy preparing the kheer.
The thugs found the old man in the field and told him that the donkey had died. The old man
replied, "I had told your wives to feed him 2 kg of grams and not 8 kg."
Then the old man spoke the deer grazing nearby, "Balvant, go home, Son, and tell Mother to prepare kheer for 4 guests." Saying this, he released the deer. The deer moved around in the forest and was lost.
The thugs were surprised to see the old man giving order to a deer. They decided to find out" whether Balvant really conveyed the message. They went to the old man’s house. There they found the other deer tied in the courtyard. Soon, the old woman came out and offered them kheer. The thugs were taken aback. They offered the old man 4000 silver coins and requested him to sell the deer.
Next day, the thugs untied all their cows and sent the Balvant as cowherd to look after them. Soon after that the owner of the adjacent plot of land came to them complaining, "Your cows have damaged my crops."
The thugs told him, "But we had sent a cowherd with them." And they told him about the witty deer. To their surprise the owner of the field said, "That deer is grazing in the field, too."

The clever old man (Part 1)

Based on a story by Samser Kausalia
An old childless couple lived in a village. They were farmers. The old man often worried that he was childless. Whatever he had earned, he spent in the treatment of his wife, but to no avail.
One day, the old woman spoke, "We do not have children, nor do we have money. What shall we do in the old age?"
The old man thought for some time and then spoke, "You ask someone to lend us 100 silver coins and I can promise you a secure old age."
The old woman went to a rich merchant's wife and borrowed 100 silver coins from her. She handed those coins to the old man. The old man took 20 of those coins to a potter and purchased his donkey from him. Then he went to a neighbouring village. There lived 4 brothers in the village. The brothers cheated those living in the nearby villages and cities and thus earned their living.
The old man enquired about them and decided to see them. He asked a child whether or not they were available at their home. The child told him that they were out. Hence the old man decided to visit their home in their absence.
There were their wives at home. The old man enquired about the four brothers. The wives told him that they were out on business. Then they asked the old man who he was.
The old man said, "You don't know me. I am one their old friend".
Then they told him to stay for the night as it was a late hour. The old man agreed and stayed there with his donkey.
The old man got up early in the morning and buried 8 silver Coins in the dung of the donkey. Then he fell asleep once again. After some time, the thugs' wives came and were surprised to find the
silver coins in the dung. They had no doubt left (that the donkey passed those coins with his dung.)

My name is Bond, Chuuha bond (part 2)

Previous Part
Chuuha again searched all the houses of the colony with his detective glasses. Sundri kept sprinkling the powder at the said places and Chuuha took photographs with his L.G. mobile camera. They kept searching till midnight. He quickly forwarded the photos by bluetooth to his IBM laptop and started typing on the Microsoft keyboard. Sundri asked with curiosity, "What are you doing, sir?" She had seen a IBM laptop for the first time. "This is the little computer filled with information from all over the world. I am processing the photographs that I clicked by downloading them on the laptop. As soon as this data matches with the data in the computer, it will immediately verify the marks. Who is that wicked one who has made your life hell?" Chuuha answered while working on the laptop. Jumping with joy, Sundri said, "James Bond, you are great." She felt that the James Bond rats will now not only soon get rid of the trouble but they would alsoa quire popularity.
Photographs of many animals were being screened on the laptop. Sundri was enjoying it thoroughly. In excitement she too hit a finger on the keyboard. "Bow!wow!wow,!" a dog barked loudly on thescreen. "Oh God! What is this?" and frightened Sundri quickly moved behind. "I was just about to find the culprit and you disturbed the processing," Chuuha said, holding hishead." But how did the dog enter the laptop?" Sundri asked with her eyes wide open at the laptop. "It is filled with lots of information, photos and sounds of many animals. You have destroyed my hard work," Chuuha spoke seriously. "I am sorry, please forgive me. The mistake will not be repeated," Sundri apologised holding her ears."Fine," and Chuuha again started processing the data. Sundri was watching everything very carefully. She found Chuuha very intelligent and revered. "I have found the culprit. here he is. The root of the trouble has been found," Chuuha shouted after about half an hour."I will declare tomorrow in front of the everyone who the culprit is" Chuuha said. "I am your assistant and have worked with you from the beginning in searching the culprit. You are still not telling me the name that means you do not trust me," Sundri said with tears in her eyes."James Bond cannot see tears in girls eyes. So I will tell you," wiping Sundri’s tears James whispered to her, "Our computer is telling that the marks that we have picked up from in front of the houses are of a cat's paws. That means that the wicked cat eats them away." When Sundri laughed Chuuha got angry. "The computer of James Bond does not lie. Pups of rats have been devoured by the cat. Don't you know since beginning, all know that rats are eaten by cats. Why did you make such elaborate arrangements for knowing such a small thing? Did your mother not tell you that cats are our enemies?" Sundri said.
Our silly Chuuha bond had felt he is a James bond.

He then went to a rat's colony and after collecting all of them, and said, "Friends,James Bond 009 is here in your service. I will be happy to solve your problems if you tell them to me."
"We rats are in great trouble, James Bond," Pintu Rat spoke. "Tell me your problem and sleep peacefully," taking down his hat Chuuha bowed down gracefully. "Our children disappear anytime. We are highly upset about that," Browny mother rat cried. "We cannot sleep at night. If you can bail us out of this problem, we will be thankful to you for entire lives," Chichi Rat pleaded with folded hands. "Whose children have disappeared?" Chuuha inquired."Our.ours," almost all the rats raised their hands. Thinking for a while Chuuha said, "That mean sthe matter is very serious. I will solve this case, but there is a condition." "What is the condition?" "I need a beautiful (female) rat as an assistant." He had always seen James Bond with pretty damsel to help him and he wanted to be like him.
Sundri Rat was ready to be his assistant. Chuuha sent all the rats back home and started working on the case. First of all, with the help of his detective glasses, he started searching all the nearby houses for many hours. Sundri in between kept serving him with coffee from the thermos. She too had watched a lot of James Bond films and so was impressed with Chuuha alias James Bond."Sundri darling, I have discovered similar marks in front of all houses which proves that it is the one person behind all troubles," Chuuha said after completing the first leg of his search. "Sir, who can that be?" Sundri asked."It is difficult to comment anything right now. But don't worry, I will soon find him out," Chuuha smiled and taking out a special box of powder from his pocket, said, "Sprinkle this powder where I tell you to. The marks will become visible by this and I will take their photographs."

He said to Billa, the cat, "The mouse is my little sister, so spare her. I will give you lots of dry wood to keep yourself cosy and comfortable at home." Billa, the cat said, "I can get wood from anywhere but to have the catch of a fat mouse comes rarely. I am going to roast the mouse, so get aside. If you wish,I can give you some to taste." Lomdi the Jackal understood that Billa, the cat was too eager of having Chooha, the mouse for supper.
He regretted lighting fire and started searching for a way to save Chooha, the mouse. Seeing some utensils with spices lying nearby,an idea struck Lomdi the Jackal. He said to Billa, the cat, "Why don't you roast Chooha in spices kept here and make it tasty."

"Some naughty children of our jungle or the other one tied it to a balloon and left it in the skies. And we thought it to be a dangerous thing," Khargosh, the rabbit surprised everyone.
Praising Khargosh, the rabbit, Sher, the king said, "It is during troubled times that a person is tested. It was seen how we all behave when in danger. Instead of being frightened in troubled times we must act with patience and sensibly and think of a way out like Khargosh, the rabbit did."
The secret of the saucer was out. The wicked animals were cursing Khargosh, the rabbit who had snatched the opportunity of making a fortune from them.
All the animals again returned to their everyday chores from that day.

"But Baba, if this trouble from the sky falls down, the entire jungle will finish. No worships will help at that time," when Bhalu, the Bear said, Jhaptu Wolf got conscious.
Jhaptu replied, "If you don't believe me, don't pay me the money." Sher, The Lion King was worried at the condition of his jungle. Calling a meeting he decided that birds would find out what this flying bird-like creature was all about.
Samdi, the Eagle, pigeon, parrot, crow - all started making excuses with the fear of loosing their lives on going near the saucer. "All of you are cowards. If I could fly, I would have gone near it long ago to find out," Haathi, the Elephant said in the meeting. "If so, we birds will drop it down from the skies. I hope then you will solely handle it?" when Samdi, the eagle asked, Haathi started looking down.
Sher, the king called for Khargosh, the Rabbit. "You are sensible. You suggest something." Thinking for some time Khargosh narrated his plan. He called for a strong basket and after tying it up with a strong rope, fastened it to Samdi, the eagle's claws. Khargosh, the rabbit sat in the basket. Samdi, the eagle flew to the skies. They reached near the flying saucer. The saucer, made of glazed paper, had a lamp lighted in it which made it glow at night. A hydrogen gas lamp was tied to it. As the gas was finishing, the balloon was descending with the saucer and so it was appearing bigger.
